Jon and I joined the NCT pretty much as soon as we knew the pregnancy was going ahead. I had read many reviews online and some people loved it, and some hated it. But something that a lot of people agreed on was that it is a fantastic way to meet people in the same situation than you… people that you will probably keep in touch with once you’ve delivered your baby(ies) and who may become good friends.
So our course started last week as I already told you in my other post, and both Jon and I enjoyed it. However, this weekend we also attended a two hour seminar in town run by TAMBA (twins and multiple births association), and it felt so much better than the NCT! In the NCT group I am the only girl expecting twins, and when Jon and I explained that it had been via IVF it felt awkward. I don’t think people judged us in any way, but we weren’t “one of them”, if you catch my drift. At the TAMBA seminar, on the other hand, everybody was expecting twins (doh!) and three out of the five ladies had gone through IVF. We were majority. Nothing to feel awkward about.
Of course, the advise given at the TAMBA seminar was more relevant, even if it didn’t cover everything (there’s only so much that you can learn in two hours). I already know that some of the things that we’ll be told at the NCT group won’t apply to us (birth plan, pain relief options, etc) but it is still good to know those things.
All in all, I am happy that we’re doing the NCT meetings, but for a completely different reason. If I want specific advise on delivering twins or raising them, etc. I will always go to TAMBA rather than the NCT.

It’s logic you enjoyed more the Tamba seminar, they are in the same boat as you. Not long to meet the little ones now. 🙂
