We have used the pushchair for almost a year now and I thought it would be good to write a review, since we went through so much detail when choosing it!
Pros.
– The best thing for us has been the fact that both babies are able to see out (when on padded seat arrangement, not with the maxi cosis). We have very curious children and I would hate to think that one or the other is missing out on the view when we’re out and about.
– We have loved the fact that it isn’t a double pushchair, as we would have struggled to just walk around the pavements on our estate, let alone go into any shops without causing massive havoc. Even still, we have found some people are really inconsiderate with parking or just standing in the way, and have had to manoeuvre around them, which is easy enough.
– Following on that point, I have found the pushchair very easy to manoeuvre. It rotates very well on its axis and it is light enough to even handle with one hand (unless you’re on uneven ground). I have had many times my takeaway Costa in one hand whilst strolling along with the pushchair, pushing with the other hand.
– It is bulky but I had no problems fitting it in the boot of my standard size car (Toyota Auris). Truth be told, though, that once the pushchair and seats are in the boot, I can only squeeze the changing bag and that’s it. Any other bags would be really pushed to get in…
– The great amount of storage under the chair is fantastic, we can fit so many things! I went clothes shopping with them once and I managed to fit 6 bags from 6 different shops all in the basket underneath. And they weren’t small bags!
Cons.
– I have found that with time the folding mechanism has been getting dodgier.. I have to pull both sides at exactly the same time, otherwise it doesn’t fold. This would be easier if the handles didn’t get stuck from time to time. And having to try three or four times when your kids are crying and you just want to get the bloody thing in the car and go, well, it can get a bit annoying.
– We only ever used the pram arrangement once, which means that it was a waste of money for us. And when we did use it, I found that the pram became too long and too front heavy. We used the maxi cosis until they were too big for them (the space between both maxi cosis wasn’t big enough for their legs as they grew bigger!)
– I have had a couple of issues with the velcro that holds the seat lining with the harness (the foot muff lining). It’s come undone a couple of times, one of them when Elisa was sitting on the chair (but not strapped in, as I was only going a couple of yards to the car) and she fell on the floor! This really upset me, as with a bit better finish could have been completely avoided.
– It is heavy to lift to put in the boot of the car (but not that heavy), which contrasts a bit with how light I find it to push along.
– Considering the price, we would have expected way more pros than cons as it is frighteningly expensive. So all in all, I give it 7 stars out of 10. I have never used any other double/twin pushchairs, so my judgement is a bit biased.
We have no plans to change the pushchair any time soon. We have been recommended the Out ‘n’ About 360 by a few people, but for the time being we are going to continue using the Baby Jogger. When we come to change it, our requirements will be that it folds all in one piece (rather than having to take the seats off first) and that it’s a bit more off roady.
