I am pretty sure that this is going to be the first part of many blog entries about us, Jon and Maria, getting to know them, Pixie and Dixie; their personality, their traits, their individuality.
It is still very early to know anything much as they still haven’t even been born, but there are certain things that we can already learn from their behaviour.
For example, they both hate the CTG machine. I am not sure whether it’s the cold gel, or the pressure on the belly, or what, but what it’s certain is that they may be resting there so placidly but the moment a midwife wants to do the CTG scan they start moving and wriggling, making it very difficult for the midwife sometimes. From the numerous times that I’ve had a CTG (and it’s many, trust me) maybe once or twice they have behaved and allowed me/the midwife to have a 20-30 minute reading without getting all agitated.
Yesterday morning was hilarious. The midwife came into the room and asked me if I had felt them move. I replied honestly and said that I hadn’t noticed them all morning, so she decided to get the CTG machine. The moment she got both heartbeats on the machine, they started having a somersault competition! It was really funny, as you could see waves on my belly from a long distance!
This won’t say much about how they develop their personality, but I am pretty sure that it will be a fantastic anecdote to tell them when they are older.
