We have made it to 35 weeks! Just, though… Because guess where I am writing from… Yes, you’ve guessed right. From the ante natal ward.
I came to triage yesterday for a routine check up, however my blood pressure was high (despite the medication), and after waiting for a good 3+ hours (yes, over three hours) the recommendation from the doctor came back as “she needs to be admitted to the ward”. Boohoo!!
And it’s not like the blood pressure was silly high, it was pretty much consistent with what it’s been in the past, around 145/95. Okay, that is high for me, and the worry came after I told the midwife that I actually am on medication for it!
At least this time I am on my own in the ward. There was another girl in the room when I “checked in”, but soon afterwards she went into the delivery room. I wouldn’t have minded having someone like Jill (my room mate last week) as she was really nice and talkative and easy to get on with, but people like her are difficult to come by! (talking from previous experiences!). We actually got on so well that I even came back to see her earlier this week when she had had her baby boy.
Something new that I’ve got to do this time is something called “24 hour urine test”. And it is what it says in the box: I need to keep all my wee for a period of 24 hours and pour it all in a gallon container that then they’ll analyse. So far I have done three samples, and I mustn’t forget to take the sample pot with me every time I go to the loo.
I was seen by a doctor this morning who suggested that if my blood pressure has not stabilised by tomorrow, then we will have to get the babies out. The midwife also suggested that when Jon gets here we might go to visit the neo-natal unit to familiarise ourselves with what may be the twins home for a week or two.
This is it for now, I will let you know of any progress.
