Almost 32 weeks! These days, every extra day is a blessing, a step closer to our beloved goal: two healthy babies!
After being told by Mr O’Sullivan that we would have to deliver them early, I have had this feeling of unease, like a constant worry inside of me. I suppose because I had such an uneventful start to the pregnancy, I kind of convinced myself that (despite the infertility issues) I was meant to do this, my body was meant to carry babies – healthy babies.
But don’t take me wrong. From what the specialists have seen so far, Pixie and Dixie seem to be developing beautifully, growing like they’re supposed to, and putting on the necessary weight. The problem is me and my high levels of protein in the urine (which, by the way, are still unexplained despite the constant monitoring and tests being done).
Jon and I have been going through lists of outstanding things that we still need to get or buy. Despite everybody’s generosity, we’re still short of some basic stuff like sleeping bags, fitted sheets for the cots, muslins (lots!) and nappies. We were reading the twinsuk essential guide to twins and multiples, and both Jon and I were gobsmacked at reading that we will go through 100 (one hundred!) nappies a week!!
And talking about Twinsuk, I have also bought from there the Double Duty and Double Helpings notebooks. They were highly recommended to us by another couple who have twins, and I can see how they can become really useful (especially if I continue to be like lately – very forgetful!) The Double Duty notebook is for keeping track of times and quantities of each feed, “condition” of the nappy and times of naps for each twin. I know… there are apps for that these days, but I honestly thought that a book was going to be more convenient. Especially because this way any other person looking after Pixie and Dixie can keep track in the same way as us (grandparents, childminder, etc). The Double Helpings is quite similar, but just for when they start weaning.
And what else. I still go twice a week to the MDAU (triage) to be monitored. Last time I went was Tuesday this week and I was seen by a very nice midwife who is pregnant herself. To be honest, my experience with the midwives at Basingstoke hospital has been extremely positive, I can’t but praise them. I’ve got another appointment tomorrow. And so on and so forth for the foreseeable future.
Two of the ladies from the NCT course have already had their babies! A baby boy (Dexter) and a baby girl (Minerva = “Minnie”), and both ladies have been so kind to take the time and email everybody with lots of tips and tricks for both before and after delivery. Three more ladies to go, and then me! Although I could deliver before one of the other three, if I am very early and they are one or two weeks late!
And not much more to say. I am finding being at home a tiny bit boring. I thought I would craft a bit more (cardmaking is my hobby) but I find myself just lying down in bed, playing iPhone games or snoozing. Which is probably what I need to do: relax and take it easy. I do craft, I have managed to make three cards this week, but then the Tom Cat distracts me to no end 🙂 (Check out “craftsbymarialachica” on facebook for some of my cards!)
And here’s my bump update. It feels like it’s been ages since I did one! More next week!
Apologies for the tracksuit bottoms… It’s probably the only thing I am comfortable on!
