Well, more than a party it was a gathering of family ๐
I have seen these “gender reveal party” photos on the web so many times, that I decided that I wanted to do something similar. I mean, you’ve got to love Americans and their originality… They go so OTT with these things that you can’t help but love it ๐ (do a quick search on Google Images and you’ll see what I mean!)
It is a tiny bit different in America, as the sex of the babies goes directly from the scan room to the cake shop without the parents knowing, so when the party happens and the cake is cut, the surprise is for everyone. We knew, because we had to find out in order to have the cakes made, but it was a surprise for everyone else (Although 90% of attendees were correct in their predictions!)
And the secret has finally been revealed! Pixie is a girl and Dixie is a boy!! Well, Dixie (the one at the bottom) is definitely a boy, but Pixie (the one at the top) is most probably a girl, but the nurse didn’t want to commit to a percentage of certainty. She just said: I think it’s a girl…
So, we all gathered in a restaurant in Banbury, which is more or less the same distance for everybody to travel. Had a chat, had lunch, and for dessert we had the cakes! It was truly a wonderful experience that I’d recommend to any pregnant woman. It can be a tiny bit stressful, depending on how easy or difficult your family is to get organised, but once you’re doing it, it’s totally worth it.
Here are a few pictures of the day!
