And another week has gone and so far so good!
What has happened since the consultant appointment earlier this week? Not huge amounts…
I have an appointment with Madeleine the midwife at the end of this month, when I’ll be 24-25 weeks, because we have to set up my Anti-D medication. Basically, Jon and I have different blood types, which means that the babies (or one of them) possibly will have a different blood type to mine, making it a bit risky for them and me, especially during delivery. If there was a tiny bit of blood transfusion between me and the babies, my body could throw in some antibodies to protect itself against the “alien blood”, so that is why I need Anti-D medication. I start taking this medication at 28 weeks, but the midwife needs to order it in advance. And whilst I am there I will also ask to have the whooping cough vaccine from 28 weeks as well.
I also have an appointment with my GP next week to see how my thyroid is going. I need to ask him for advice on the heartburn as well, as most remedies and medicines advise that you don’t take it if you’re already on thyroid medication. We mentioned this to the consultant earlier this week but she didn’t say anything (some advice on this would have been welcome)
And what else…
I now feel them move all the time, especially Dixie (or at least I think it’s him based on the location of the kicks), and sometimes the kicks tickle me and some other times they scare the life out of me. Especially if I am in the office, concentrating on something, and they kick… I jump, as more often than not I am taken by surprise. Also, Jon finally got to feel the kicks the other night as well. Only very mildly for now, but I am sure they will kick with more strength in the weeks to come.
And here’s my weekly photo. I am afraid that it’s from last night (21 weeks, 6 days) and it’s also blurry… But I am only wearing tracksuit bottoms and a fleece today and I didn’t fancy having to retake the photo again… So lazy, aren’t I! But you can see the size of the growing bump and that is what counts!
More in a few more days!
