One of the things that I am finding more difficult about the whole pregnancy is keeping it quiet! I really can’t wait to “go live” and tell everyone I know.
Jon and I have told some close friends, and our families, of course. But still, most of the time you have to walk in egg shells and not say something that may give the whole thing away…
One of the reasons why we are still keeping it quiet is because things could still go wrong. I still panic from time to time, because I am not having many pregnancy symptoms at all (apart from being tired: nothing). I read pregnancy websites and they all coincide that the pregnancy symptoms are always more noticeable when you’re pregnant with twins. So I was expecting to have terrible nausea and morning sickness, horrible headaches and general pain all over me. So when days and weeks go by without any of those symptoms, I can’t help but worry and wonder if everything is in good order. Honestly, if I hadn’t had any scans so far, I would very much doubt that I was actually pregnant.
So just in case things go wrong (remember, I am still in my first trimester) we’re not telling everyone.
I am awaiting a letter from the hospital with my appointment for my first official scan. This scan can happen any time between week 10 and week 13, but I am hoping it will be sooner rather than later. I would like the scan to happen before the end of this month (I’ll be 12 weeks on December 1st), because I want to tell my workmates before the Christmas Party that is to take place on the 5th of December. Otherwise it is going to be awkward trying to justify my not drinking without raising suspicion. So even December the 3rd would be fine for the scan. Fingers crossed!
We are waiting for the scan to tell people for two reasons:
1) We would be pretty much out of the first trimester (when things are more likely to go wrong – although things can still go wrong until much later!)
2) We will have a lovely scan picture to show everyone! (our scans so far do not show much of the actual babies..)
It will be so much easier then, and I think it will be some weight off our shoulders once it’s out!
Week 10 photo and update to come soon!
