I can’t believe the twins are over two years old now and I have never mentioned the scrapbook in here before.
When they were only three months old I started a scrapbook. It’s only a 8×8 inches one (compared to the traditional 12×12 inches) so it’s easy to fill the pages up. Well, just earlier this month I finally finished it. Hang on, let me rephrase that: Earlier this month, I finished the first scrapbook, which only covers 2013! So, that book covers only their first seven months.
As I just said, I started it when they were only three months old and I did quite a few pages at the beginning. However, I can’t even remember why, I stopped scrapbooking and did nothing with it for about 18 months. I suppose the kids were keeping me busy, plus I launched my crafty shop (on hold at the moment) which also kept me quite busy.
I must say that it’s been really great having the blog here to be able to go back to the early entries and remember what they were doing at a certain stage. I have to admit that I couldn’t remember exactly when they reached milestones like sitting up, first tooth, etc. The scrapbook is guided by the photos, rather than the milestones, though. So I go through my photos and find the ones that I want to make into a page and then I try to find in the blog what else they were doing at around that time. It’s working really well, and now I have started their 2014 book.
I have learned a couple of lessons with the first book. One is, do not use very thick embellishments like buttons, otherwise I will have problems later with trying to close the book. Another is to always leave a gap for the text! I had to be “inventive” in a couple of occasions where I went a bit overboard with the embellishments and left no space for the journalling. I suppose the old school 12×12 layouts have their advantages then!
These are some of my favourite pages of the 2013 scrapbook:
