Blimey, it’s been a while again since my last update! I am super busy with Scrapbooking design teams and other crafty adventures, so all the spare time that I get goes into scrapbooking, so not much time for keeping up with this blog… apologies!
So here is a quick summary of what’s been going on.
Eric and Elisa are now in big boy / big girl beds! We finally moved the study to the new room upstairs, emptied the old study, painted, went to Ikea to buy the furniture, built it, and they moved straight into their new beds. And they really love them. I think they were more than ready to move on from the cots, and nobody has looked back!
We have had a couple of wee-wee accidents with Eric, luckily he was clever enough to get out of bed in time. Actually, what happens is that their new room is slightly further away so I can’t hear them call if they need us in the night. So in a couple of ocassions, Eric has been calling us to go to the loo in the middle of the night and we haven’t heard… and by the time we have heard, he’s had an accident. I have tried explaining several times that it is ok for him to open the door of his room and go to the toilet on his own. He can come into our room and wake us up if he wants us to go with him to the loo… but unfortunately this has not sinked in yet.
Another problem related to this is that when we do hear him and take him to the loo for a wee-wee, 95% of the time he will refuse to go back to his own bed. His excuse is that he is scared of the dark, which is rubbish, as they have super bright fairy lights in their room, and our room is pitch black and that doesn’t seem to bother him.
Other than that, they are being brilliant. They wait for us in their room in the morning and don’t leave the room when they are not supposed to. Some nights it takes us a bit longer to get them to sleep, but once they are down, they sleep through.
They are getting on quite well at nursery and Elisa is actually really looking forward to school. She looks up to her cousin Olivia who is in Year R this year, so she wants to imitate her and be able to go to school too. Eric on the other hand is not so keen. We were by the Rooksdown school the other day and I was explaining how they will probably be coming to this school from September onwards, and Eric said “I want to stay where I go now”. So, yeah… we’ll see how things go nearer the time. We still have a month to wait until we learn which school we have been allocated to, however I am very calm about the whole thing. All three schools that we have applied to are good schools, so no need to stress! They will be fine wherever they go.
Now that the weather is finally getting nicer, I am going to try to take them out and about more often. On Monday this week we went to the playpark by the community centre and they had a great time. We don’t normally go to that park, so it was a good novelty for them. It is hard to get them out sometimes though, even if it’s sunny, they just want to play at home! But I am hopeful that this will change in the spring.
And this is it for now. I will post again when we have heard about the school placements!
