Very quick post today. Let’s see if I manage to write this up before I need to pick up the kids from nursery! I think it’s going to be an easy task since we have had a very easy month and nothing has changed much 🙂
Feeding.
They are loving breakfast at the moment. The drink their milk, they eat their cereal and more often than not they also eat some toast. They are still eating breakfast at home before going to nursery, but we are slowly bringing the time back, and maybe one day they’ll eat breakfast at nursery again!
Sleeping.
I think they are going through a small growth spurt, since I’ve noticed that they get more tired in the afternoon these days and definitely need their sleep more. Elisa has been sleeping at nursery almost 2 out of 3 times in the last couple of weeks. Fortunately, this has not affected their bedtime much. If Elisa has slept a nap at nursery, she tends to be way more active at bedtime, but when we say goodnight and leave the room she tends to settle herself and fall asleep pretty much straight away.
Just the other night Eric had a bad night and ended up coming into bed with us. It was the first time in ages! (not counting when they had the chicken pox). Neither of us slept well… Long are the days when bringing the kids to bed with us just cute and cuddly.
Development.
Development wise they are both doing great. Did you know that Eric jumps two steps of the staircase at a time? And he does it so well! The nursery carers have told me that they do so many things on their own at nursery! Things that they refuse to do with us, like putting their shoes on. If the carers hadn’t told me I would still believe that they are still too young to do it themselves, but apparently they do it all the time there!!!
No, we still haven’t started potty training. They sit in the potty at nursery, but they show no interest at all when we are home. I suppose we just need to take it seriously one day and be firm about it with them, rather than letting them rule the rooster like we are doing at the moment.
Socialising.
I am very pleased to say that after many MONTHS of difficult drop offs at nursery, they are finally starting to like going in again! (not that they don’t like going – they really enjoy their time there. It was just the drop offs). I worry that they are due to move to the next class up in just a few weeks, and maybe they mornings will be painful again!
It’s going to be birthday season very soon and we have started being invited to their little friends parties, so that should bring the socialising outside nursery aspect up a bit more soon.
Health.
Nothing serious to report, really. They have had a silly cough for a couple of weeks, that seems to get worse at night. Jon wants me to take them to the doctor, because he thinks that they need antibiotics, but how on earth are we going to give Eric a single dose of antibiotic? He spits even the most delicious strawberry-flavoured paracetamol. I just don’t know how we would manage… But if the cough hasn’t got any better next week, I will take them and see what the doctor says.
And this is it. A very short one this month 🙂
Photo from our visit to Millers Ark Farm last weekend. Elisa absolutely loved all the animals!
