I just got the call a bit earlier. I now know when D Day is… and it’s this Friday!
I had a scan on Monday this week and apparently the follicles were growing great, and everything seemed to be in place. A second scan this morning (Wednesday) seemed to make the consultant happy enough to refer me back to the Wessex Fertility Clinic in Southampton in order to set up the egg retrieval. I looks like I’ve got at least 4 viable eggs, and that is more than enough! As long as one of those four is healthy, I am happy.
So, Egg Retrieval Day (aka “D Day”) is only two days away! I have to be in Southampton by 9:30, and I will go into the theatre at 10:00. I will be under anaesthetics, so it is advisable that I take the following couple of days easy. In preparation for D Day, I have to take one last injection: the trigger injection – Ovitrelle. Jon is away in Glasgow tonight, so I will have to do this one on my own! (no biggie… I am so used to pricking myself now!!). I’ve been told that it’s got to be done at 10pm. I wonder why the specific time?
And then, once the eggs have been fertilised with Jon’s soldiers, the transfer takes place on Monday next week. So, so nervous… And excited too!
